✨🍷Our annual Black Friday excursion was wine tasting with our close knit group of friends and our grown up kids in our home area of the Southern Willamette Valley.

📍One of the wineries we went to this year was Walnut Ridge Vineyard @walnutridgevineyard located in the Lower Long Tom AVA and If you haven’t been there yet you must add it to your list of, ‘Where to Wine Taste’ when in the Southern Willamette Valley here in Oregon.

✨They had the perfect cozy holiday setup, bringing the merry spirit of the season to life. I found myself feeling festive earlier than usual—normally, I don’t get into the holiday spirit until later in December. Everything was beautifully decorated, with a roaring fire in the fireplace and soft, dim lighting creating the coziest ambiance. It felt like stepping into a different era altogether.

🍷We were instantly filled with the spirit of the season, helped along of course by sipping wine and enjoying delicious appetizers. We sampled six different wines, starting with the 2023 La Petite Fête Blanc and the 2023 Gamay Noir, followed by an array of Pinot Noirs. Each was perfectly paired with their famous deviled eggs topped with bourbon bacon jam, a bite of Muffuletta, and NOLA-style red beans and rice—a nod to their New Orleans-inspired tasting room.

✨Here’s a cool fact about Walnut Ridge’s tasting room: it was constructed and modeled precisely after the blueprint of Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, the infamous historic bar on Bourbon Street. Known as one of the oldest surviving structures and bars in New Orleans, it dates back to the late 1700s. If you watch until the end of this video, you’ll spot a painting commemorating Lafitte, subtly displayed on the wall near the tasting room’s bar.

We had the best time, thank you Walnut Ridge @walnutridgevineyard for making our annual Black Friday wine tasting tradition so memorable this year!

🍁It’s officially Thanksgiving week! Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. And guess what side we are bringing this year? Wine!! No joke😂! So I thought I would give you my line up here and of course it is all Oregon wine, mais bien sûr, no surprises here with this creature of habit.

🍾🥂The wines:
1. Appetizer wine: Acrobat Pinot Gris, 2023, under $20. This is a great wine to start the festivities. Always consistent and always delicious, crisp and light with nice acid, great for the cheese and hors d’oeuvres course. One of our go-to wines. @acrobat_wine
2. In between wine: 2022 Sokol Blosser Bluebird Cuvée Sparkling Wine, Méthode Champenoise -gets everyone feeling festive. @sokolblosser
3. For the main: Ken Wright 2023 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Ken Wright 2023 Willamette Valley Chardonnay. Ken Wright never disappoints and this 2023 Chardonnay… oh la la! @kwcellars

I changed this one up to show its versatility- four different outfits to highlight and accentuate this point. I love that I don’t need to get anything altered because their petite sizing fits perfectly (a rarity for me.)

🎥 We went exploring this Labor Day weekend to the Southern Oregon Coast and came across Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge located in Gold Beach, Oregon set back about 7 miles off the Pacific Ocean nestled along the Rogue River. These are the types of places I am always thrilled when I find them. It is a hidden gem that won’t disappoint!

🌲The details:

Location: Gold Beach, Oregon, Southern Oregon Coast.

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge, built in 1970 with modernized updates (see the river front glass cabins in this Reel), is an enchanting luxury 3-star boutique hotel retreat nestled along the Rogue River.

✨Accommodations include a mix of luxurious rooms to cabins to houses available for stay year-round, each designed with a warm, rustic aesthetic that complements the natural beauty of the surroundings. Other amenities include a riverside pool, sauna, and in-room spa services.

🍽️🍷There is definitely a focus on cuisine, Oregon wine and craft cocktails being that the owners also have Oregon based Cowhorn and Johan Vineyards. On-site Chef Derek Piva, from Brazil who worked in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, crafts his menus with a focus on on locally sourced and in-season ingredients, highlighting the rich flavors of the Pacific Northwest.

✨Tu Tu’ Tun @tututunlodge is the perfect getaway and I am really excited that we found it and we can’t wait to go back. They are open all-year round.
