📍🌱This is Antiquum Farm in the Southern Willamette Valley’s Lower Long Tom AVA. This isn’t your average vineyard -it’s a grazing-based viticulture system unlike anything else in the world. No irrigation. No shortcuts. Just 18 Kunekune pigs, Dorper sheep, chickens, 80+ geese, ducks and 7 Maremma Sheepdogs to guard and protect them all from outside predators, mainly mountain lions and cougars. They all work together to cultivate the vines in Bellpine soil, a high-mineral ancient seabed soil that shapes their expressive and elegant high-acid Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. 🍷🐖🐑🦆🐓🪿🦮

🍇 Grapes are hand-harvested at night, whole-cluster pressed. Every detail, from pest control to fruit ripeness, is handled by this self-sustaining farm ecosystem. It’s incredible to see and makes it even more exciting to taste their wine- which really is out of this world. Tastings are by appointment only. @antiquumfarmer 🥂

🌸☀️Spring in Eugene has been gorgeous this week. Last night we took advantage of this beautiful weather and went to The Garden on Friendly for a light bite, a bit of vino and beer with live jazz playing in the background. It was so great to see so many people out with their kids and pets. I forgot my phone (which felt weird), so Andrew took a few photos for me- lucky him 😂.

We don’t have a lot of wine-with-a-view spots in Eugene, but the ones we do have are really worth visiting. Here are the ones for a relaxing afternoon or early evening out:

💃🏻 I had to jump on this trend – it felt like the perfect way to reintroduce The Dolce Hunter.

The Dolce Hunter started in 2015, inspired by my lifelong love for Italy, travel and la dolce vita.

I first experienced Italy when I studied in Siena as an undergrad. During grad school in Paris, I spent school breaks in Taormina, Sicily deepening my love for this country. I later lived in Rome and somewhere along the way, Italy became a part of me that I’m now returning to.

The name The Dolce Hunter was inspired by Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita (1960) -a film that perfectly captures the elegance, indulgence, and, ironically, the search for meaning in this modern, chaotic world. It’s a spirit I’ve always been drawn to.

And yes, I asked ChatGPT to style outfits inspired by some of my favorite Italian fashion houses- Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Prada, Missoni…

Only one of these generated looks actually resemble me -which one do you think? 😂

This past Saturday, on International Women’s Day, I had the incredible opportunity to meet the mother-daughter team, Loredana and Vittoria of Podere Ruggeri Corsini @ruggericorsini 🍷✨ They were in Eugene, Oregon, at one of my favorite food stores, Capella Market, pouring their wines as part of their U.S. tasting tour.

Podere Ruggeri Corsini was founded in 1995 by Loredana Addari and Nicola Argamante, and today, their daughters Francesca and Vittoria are continuing the family tradition. Their wines showcase the heart of the Langhe region: Barolo, Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto, Pinot Nero + and elegant whites like Chardonnay and Viognier. And… if you get a chance, you must try their Rosé/ Rosato 100% Nebbiolo- it’s superb!

I love small-plate eating and sharing—this is how I like to dine. This communal way of eating sparks conversation and makes the experience of food and drink even more enjoyable. It’s the type of dining experience rye cultivates. Here are my favorite small plates at rye @ryeonthird

🍷The wine and the pours are the best, not overpriced like you see in so many restaurants that give wimpy pours which I think is one of the biggest restaurant crimes out there- over charging and under pouring.

They have the best btg selection, mostly focused on Oregon and imports - which I love. Their craft cocktails, I have to say, are the best in town. All-around wonderful service as well.

🎬 After the shindig we were at last night in the Pearl District, we decided to stop in at El Gaucho for some late-night fare before heading back to our hotel in downtown Portland. Our favorite place to sit is always the bar. I think it’s best to call ahead for a reservation, but we got lucky and grabbed two bar seats right away. @elgauchosteakhouse

Acoustic guitar jazz set the mood, and the atmosphere was just right with its sultry low lighting. Great food, great bartender and great service as always. We ordered:

♦️Tenderloin Diablo Bites
♦️Classic Wedge
♦️Pomme Frites with Truffle Aioli

🥃 Andrew had their house Old Fashioned, and I had a glass of Oregon Pinot Gris Tyrus Evan, Ken Wright Cellars —always a great pick @kwcellars 🍷

🍴If you’re looking for a solid late-night spot with that perfect nighttime atmosphere, music and top-notch service, El Gaucho is always a good choice.🥂
